Dr. Richard Resler, Jr.

I love meeting new people every day and seeing our adolescent patients transform throughout the duration of their orthodontic treatment. I enjoy the differences and unique challenges and situations that we address in each individual’s life and orthodontic care. I truly love learning; no day ever passes without me learning something new from our patients.

In a way, I grew up with many of the members of our team here at Resler Orthodontics and have therefore known them most of my life. We are a very tightly knit group, almost like a family. Our primary combined goal is patient satisfaction, and we try to make our office a relaxed and comfortable environment.

Education and Continuing Education
After graduating from Heritage High School in 1996, I attended Michigan State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology in 2000. I continued on to the Medical University of South Carolina, where I earned my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2004. My Master of Science degree and Certificate of Orthodontics were received at Temple University School of Dentistry in 2006. I exclusively practiced orthodontics for three years at Temple University and have been in private practice with Resler Orthodontics for over five years.

Professional Memberships
I stay very active in continuing education in order to keep up to date on diagnosis and treatment procedures as well as emerging medical conditions and their treatments as related to orthodontics. Technology has dramatically changed the field of orthodontics over the last ten years, and staying current with this technology allows us to optimize treatment results and minimize treatment time and discomfort. Since so much of orthodontics is related to beauty and esthetics, it is imperative that we focus on continuing education in relation to the patient’s appearance as a whole rather than their teeth alone. I further my orthodontic education with memberships in the Schulman Study Group, the Progressive Study Club, and the Northern Michigan Orthodontic Study Club.

Professional Organizations
To aid in furthering my continuing education, I am also a member of the Temple University Orthodontic Alumni Association, the Medical University of South Carolina Alumni Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Michigan Association of Orthodontists, the Michigan Dental Association, the Saginaw Valley District Dental Society, and the Saginaw County Dental society. I have also been certified by the State of Michigan Board of Orthodontists.

In the Community
I am lucky to have grown up and to now live and work in a community that is made up of such great people. Our office sponsors local sports teams, and we are involved in multiple school related events and fundraisers, such as the Heritage Hawktion. We have supported the Saginaw Children’s Museum and the Children’s Zoo, and I have personally been a Special Olympics Special Smiles dental screener. I have held a position on the board of the Saginaw District Dental Society for five years. My wife and I also attend and support Hopevale Church.

Outside the Office

I am a native of Saginaw, Michigan, and I live here with my wife and co-worker, Tracie, as well as the most recent addition to our family, a new baby boy, Greyson. I truly value my time at home with my wife, my son, and our two Portuguese Water Dogs, Moose and Bear. I also love being outdoors and enjoy all four seasons as well as the different activities associated with each, especially biking, skiing, hunting, motorcycling, snowmobiling, surfing, golfing, and traveling.

Dr. Richard Resler, Sr.

I feel truly blessed to have been able to serve  thousands of individuals in the last 35 years. I believe that I have chosen one of the best professions ever. We are practically the only profession whose patients are better off when they leave our practice than they ever were in their lives before they entered. Our service is everlasting and makes huge differences in the lives of the people we serve. I look forward to coming to the office everyday and leave with a feeling of great satisfaction. Seeing my past patients around town makes me very proud. I hope the Resler name in Orthodontics will be recognized in our community as having the highest standards for generations to come.

Education and Continuing Education
I received my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kentucky in 1970 and continued on there to earn my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1974 and my Master of Science degree in 1976. There have been so many changes and advancements over the past three decades in the field of dentistry, and I believe it is extremely important to stay current with new technology. I am involved with the Northern Michigan Orthodontics Study Club, the Schulman Study Group, and the Progressive Study Club. It is our goal to offer our patients the very latest in orthodontic treatment and strive to produce the finest results.

Dr. Tracie Michelle Resler

I have known that I wanted to be an orthodontist since I was eight years of age, at which time I excitedly began my first phase of orthodontic treatment. I was always extremely passionate about science, medicine, and helping and healing people, yet I also loved drawing, designing, and using my hands to express my creativity. As an orthodontist, I am able to be an artist of sorts by giving patients unique and beautiful smiles while using my knowledge of dentofacial orthopedics and oral health to provide them with dentitions that are both functional and beneficial to their entire wellbeing. I genuinely take pleasure in getting to know each and every patient on a professional as well as a personal level, and I especially enjoy the opportunity to work with children and young adults to positively cultivate their developing self images and esteems.

Education and Continuing Education
I attended Columbia College in Columbia, SC, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. I received my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2004 and continued on to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, where I earned my Orthodontic Certificate and completed my Orthodontic Specialty Residency. I exclusively practiced orthodontics for three years during my residency at Vanderbilt University and have been in the private setting ever since.

I am a firm believer in the vital significance of continuing education and am therefore a member of the Northern Michigan Orthodontic Study Club, the Schulman Study Group, and the Progressive Orthodontic Study Club, in which I interact and share orthodontic treatment techniques, philosophies, and related ideas with other orthodontists representing the local region, the broader nation, and numerous countries abroad.

Professional Memberships
I am also a member and advocate of the Vanderbilt University Orthodontic Alumni Association, the Medical University of South Carolina Alumni Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Michigan Association of Orthodontists, the Michigan Dental Association, the Saginaw Valley District Dental Society, and the Saginaw County Dental society.

In the Community
I have contributed to and participated in numerous fundraisers and events benefiting the United Way of Saginaw, the Junior League, Saginaw Children’s Museum, Children’s Zoo, Saginaw Art Museum, and Hopevale Church and am continually involved with a variety of activities promoting the high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools of our invaluable local community.

Outside the Office

I was born and raised in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and have lived in Saginaw for over five years. Dr. Rich Resler, Jr and I met while attending dental school and celebrated our marriage in the summer of 2008. Our family has since grown to include two Portuguese Water Dogs, Moose and Bear, as well as a wonderful baby boy, Greyson. I love spending my free time reading, watching movies, and doing anything related to the beach or sun, but most importantly, I cherish my time with my family and savor every moment of being a new mother!
